This darkness got to give. New Speedway Boogie- Robert Hunter
The James Webb Telescope orbits the sun one million miles away from the earth. Launched in 2021 it is the superior younger brother to Hubble which orbits our blue planet. Hubble and James Webb have expanded our understanding of the universe beyond our wildest dreams. There are more than 100 BILLION Galaxies. The continuing expansion of our scientific comprehension seems overwhelming at times. The general population is more interested in the material than the unknowable. That is the realm of religion and mystics, and not for modern technological materialism.
This has been a week of reflection and hard work. The next ten years do not bode well for the weary and the weak. Father time wins all battles. The challenges that my children and grandchildren will face are beyond my ability to change. Their only choice will be to manage the unexpected. When my father drove himself and his best friend into a tree there were few other options for my sister and myself. We just kept the car moving down the road. None of us were the same but we learned how resilient we could be.
There is energy that is available to everyone that asks for help and assistance. Don’t talk to influencers or artificial intelligence or a “machine god” for personal guidance. Some professional psychologists can help. Ask the universe, ask your God or ask the angels in your life. Be careful when you play with the energy of the universe. Not kidding…. Be open to listening and an answer will present itself. Be open to the messenger because it could come from your Sunoco gas man or your lunch server. The ability to be present, and in the moment with each individual, delivers energy into the universe. There have been experiments, like remote viewing, analyzing how we can see objects through time and space, with directed energy and thought. That ability was confirmed in my personal experience with the medium Jon Edwards.
The idea that we can project and receive thoughts and feelings is the realm of that sixties hippie vibe. Extra sensory perception has always been present in the history of every major religion. Those of us who have experimented with psychedelics know perception is fluid and can flow in all directions, like an expanding universe, at the same time. Near death experiences also describe unknowable places beyond life. The secular/ agnostic criticism has always wished to diminish unknowable events as myths without regard to the value of that experience. We all may have had experiences that have been other worldly and some of us have dismissed it, ignored it and chalked it up as coincidence.
What is unexplainable is not explained away by coincidence. The author Michael Shermer, agnostic and skeptic, told this story. He was getting married and his wife’ was feeling sad because her great uncle, who had passed away, would not be giving her away. They had a broken radio that was a gift from her uncle. At the end of the wedding, during the reception, they heard music coming from the back room. The radio was playing a love song and transitioned to classical music, shut off later and then never worked again. Somehow her uncle had moved through time and space.
This week an acquaintance of mine called unexpectedly. Returning his call, he wanted to speak about what it is like to lose a father you worked with every day. He was reaching out to discuss how one deals with the simple loss of the person you could ask for advice. That confidence, knowing someone has your back, is unquantifiable. That love is the same love that has sustained humankind for ten times ten thousand years. We spoke for fifteen minutes and offered simple words of advice. Those words were comforting but an experience, later that day, with the holy spirit, had a greater impact.
That afternoon, not two hours later, Rabbi Kanelski called to wish me a good Shabbos. He never calls on Friday but always texts. He usually calls when he wants to bring challah and honey to our office. We had a pleasant and polite call. And then after saying goodbye the last thing he said was “i love you”. Rabbis, that I know, are not in the habit of saying I love you, especially to someone who does not visit his synagogue as often as one might do. That was an extraordinary message, as much as it was appreciated, that I believe was a message for my bereaving friend. The Rabbi was an unknowing messenger in the unknowable power of a creator.
That message was relayed immediately to my business associate. He was incredibly grateful and accepted the message willingly. What a gift it is to feel our parents love again along with the knowledge they will always be part of us. When I hold my grandchildren closely, I whisper, “I love you and will always be with you”. The time we have left is only known by the infinite creator. Do not be distracted by the materialism that assaults all our senses. Embrace the uncertainty, the mystery and intuition in your mind. That makes every day an opportunity to hug and teach your own, be kind to everyone and wish peace upon this planet. The universe is waiting for us to figure it all out.
Peace to Everyone. 1970 Live New Speedway Boogie- Grateful Dead.
Very poignant. Evoked memories of your dad's sad passing.
Beautiful Alan.
